Our Holiday Cottage
Looking for holiday cottages in the Peak District? Coppice House Farm Cottage is a four star holiday cottage situated in the Rivelin Valley, which stretches for nearly four miles from the outskirts of Sheffield through the Peak District National Park, towards the Hope Valley and Edale. It’s seven hundred Lime trees make it the second longest Lime tree avenue in Britain. Once the fast flowing river emerging from the moorland peat was ideal for powering the wheels of the up to twenty water mills along its course.
The valley holds a scattering of smallholdings, farms and dwellings, with one or two delightful country pubs. It’s many bridleways and footpaths make it very popular with ramblers (nearby is Hathersage thought to have inspired Charlotte Bronte to write Jane Eyre.) Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, is also a lovely place to visit, as is the impressive Ladybower dam. Just a short drive is the city of Sheffield with its attractions, nightlife and Meadowhall.
We offer solitude, space to reflect, and quiet romantic retreats.
Outward bound activities and stunning scenery.
Indoor and outdoor play facilities.
Tour
“Thanks for your wonderful hospitality. The weather has been lovely and even if it hadn’t we would still have enjoyed it in this wonderful cottage with its wonderful surroundings. We have never stayed in such an organised self-sufficient place, so nice and cosy.”
The cottage was built to exacting conservation standards just over 10 years ago. It is adjacent to the original Elizabethan Grade 2 Listed farm house.
Frank and Pam Revitt personally greet you upon your arrival and ensure you have an initial supply of staple items, including tea, coffee, milk, sugar and butter (from their farm shop) so you can unwind and relax from the outset of your stay. Should you require something more substantial, this can also be arranged.
Most guests like to enter through the matching conservatory, which is adjacent to car parking facilities. This incorporates a utility area with a dishwasher and washing machine so more can be made of the well appointed kitchen.
The kitchen is linked via an attractive archway to the breakfast room / dining area. They share the same tiled flooring which makes entertaining easier, particularly as this gives ‘him’ no excuse not to wait on you during your holiday.
The cottage has toilets on both floors and is centrally heated throughout. The lounge also has a fireplace. It can be accessed from the breakfast room / dining area or the main hallway.
The main hallway also includes stairs up to the first floor. At the top of the stairs you first pass the doors into the bathroom and double bedroom.
At the other end of the first floor landing are the twin bedroom and the single.
If we are given advance warning, we can couple the twin beds together to make a comfortably sprung king size bed.
This of course makes the cottage suitable to the needs of a wider range of parties, and in particular means that if you do not need the twin facility you can choose to sleep in even greater comfort.
Farm
Coppice House Farm offers more than just holiday accommodation. It is a working farm which makes it an experience in itself, but sadly for obvious safety reasons not suitable for toddler to preschool children. Coppice House Farm has been in the Revitt family for over 200 years and is now a beef and sheep unit run on conservation grounds which supplies the Farm Shop.
There are a number of bridle paths and walks on the land as well as a seven and a half acre wood, much of it framed by the farm’s dry stone walls.
The Farm Shop stocks local produce, prepared on site and served to order. The beef, pork and lamb we sell from Coppice House Farm has been reared using non-intensive farming methods which forbid the use of growth-promoters and antibiotics. Our poultry, vegetables and dairy products, and our wide range of pickles, preserves and condiments have been sourced as locally as possible.

Situated on the edge of the Peak National Park, which boasts many popular destinations including; Edale, Hathersage, Ladybower, Bakewell, Buxton, Glossop and Chatsworth House.
The Rivelin Valley is a popular lure for visitors and locals: it has Sheffield’s official nature trail and gentle, wooded walks beside the fast flowing river.

Most people know of Buxton through its spring water, which is freely available if you wish to collect it yourself. Buxton is a traditional market town with a range of shops and history to explore.
Buxton also houses the magnificent Victoria Gardens with its Victorian conservatory, opera, restaurants, model railway, indoor and outdoor gardens, and outdoor leisure and play facilities.
Booking
No two parties are the same, so we do not try to make you pay the same prices as it could easily mean you paying more than you need to.
Obviously it costs more to book at the height of the summer and only multiples of whole weeks are taken; therefore, we adjust our prices to reflect the size of the party staying and time of year so there is more flexibility in the number of days you can book.
Utilities are included, as is clean linen, towels and household essentials; however, a party of 5 adults (over-16s) incurs a services surcharge because of the greater usage that results.
- Typical Four day Winter break – £150.00
- Typical Seven day Summer break – £450.00
